Headway is a feature-rich Forex trading application designed to provide traders with seamless access to financial markets. As the Lead UX/UI Designer, I was responsible for building the app from the ground up, ensuring a user-friendly experience that meets the needs of both beginner and professional traders.

Challenges
The goal was to create an intuitive trading platform with real-time market data, advanced charting tools, and effortless trade execution—all while maintaining a clean and structured UI. The challenge was to simplify complex trading workflows while ensuring high performance and usability.
Approach
To create a seamless trading experience, I began with user research, analyzing trader needs and competitor platforms to identify key usability gaps. I then developed wireframes and prototypes, ensuring rapid iteration and refinement based on user feedback. A scalable design system was established for consistency, and usability testing helped optimize workflows for intuitive navigation. Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with developers to ensure smooth implementation, resulting in a highly functional and user-friendly Forex trading platform.

User Journey
I start the user journey by researching user needs and behaviors through surveys, interviews, and usability testing. Engaging directly with users provides insights that guide the design process, ensuring the product meets their expectations.
User Flow
The Headway user flow is designed for efficiency and ease of use. Users start with onboarding, creating an account and setting up preferences. They then access the dashboard, where they can view real-time market data and insights. From there, they navigate to market analysis, using interactive charts and technical indicators to assess trends. When ready, they proceed to trade execution, placing orders with a simple, intuitive interface. After trading, they manage their portfolio, tracking open positions, profits, and risks. Finally, users can customize their experience through settings, ensuring a seamless and personalized trading journey.
Low-fidelity Prototype
After defining the information architecture, I created low-fidelity designs to translate concepts into tangible layouts. These served as blueprints for structure and functionality. Through feedback and refinement, I ensured alignment with user needs before moving to higher-fidelity iterations.
Design System
After developing low-fidelity designs, I created a comprehensive design system for Headway, unifying principles for typography, color, iconography, and layout to ensure a consistent, accessible interface. This system serves as a central repository for reusable components, streamlining collaboration and speeding up development. It adapts to user feedback and trends, ensuring a cohesive and user-focused trading experience.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
At this stage, all that’s left is bringing all the elements together— the features defined in the initial mockups, the app layout derived from the sitemap, and the UI features according to the design system.
